During the October service, Winans was caught on camera addressing a member who brought forward a $1,235 donation, telling her that her contribution wasn’t the amount he had asked for. That clip sparked heavy debate across social media, with many accusing the pastor of embarrassing a congregant over her offering. Both Winans and the woman later clarified that it wasn’t a “rebuke,” but rather a misunderstanding about the timing of donations.
Fast forward a week later, and Winans told his congregation that one “major supporter” had come forward to bless the church with a $100,000 gift — that supporter being Tyler Perry. The crowd reportedly erupted in celebration as Winans praised the donation as proof that “God is in this.”
But while many in the room were moved by the gesture, reactions outside the sanctuary were far more divided.
