Queen Latifah, Lil Wayne, and several other influential artists have been announced as inductees into the esteemed 2023 class of the Black Music & Entertainment Walk of Fame.

The Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame (BMEWOF) and the Georgia Entertainment Caucus (GEC), announced inductees for its latest installment of the Crown Jewel of Excellence™ this week.

The inductees for this year include: Dallas Austin, Magic Johnson, Mahalia Jackson, Marvin Sapp, Busta Rhymes, Lil Wayne, Queen Latifah, and Jermaine Dupri.

The class of 2023 honorees will be honored with the Crown Jewel of Excellence emblem. The installation of the emblems will take place on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in front of the Mercedes Benz Stadium in downtown Atlanta.

In a Instagram post, the company shares,

“We are proud to announce our next class of Inductees…”

Marvin Sapp shared his excitement in a recent post with a caption containing a Billboard article,

“I am extremely honored to have been selected and thankful to everyone who was a part of the selection committee. To God be all the Glory!”

 

The new inductees of the BMEWOF’s 2023 class join a prestigious lineup of previous honorees. This esteemed group includes influential figures such as Quincy Jones, Berry Gordy, James Brown, Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder, Prince, Ray Charles, Smokey Robinson, Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie, Patti LaBelle, Beyoncé, Mary J. Blige, Usher, Missy Elliott, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Nas, Run-D.M.C., Snoop Dogg, and OutKast.

Established in 2017, the Black American Music Association serves as a membership trade organization catering to music industry professionals, creators, scholars, stakeholders, and communities on a broader scale. Its primary mission is centered around the preservation, protection, and promotion of the rich legacy and promising future of Black music.

The annual induction ceremony will take place in Atlanta on Oct. 26.
