In exciting news, former NBA star J.R. Smith and actress Candice Patton, known for her role in The Flash, have welcomed a beautiful baby boy! The announcement came via Patton’s heartfelt Instagram post on September 27, where she shared the joy of becoming a mother.

“Son in Virgo. Born at home. Heart now beats outside of my chest. In love forevermore,” she wrote, accompanied by a touching carousel of photos and a video tagged with Smith’s account.

While this new chapter is filled with love, it’s not without its complexities. J.R. Smith, 39, is still allegedly legally married to Shirley ‘Jewel’ Smith, who previously expressed her heartache in 2019 over allegations of an affair between J.R. and Candice. In a candid Instagram post at the time, she requested divine support for both J.R. and Candice, highlighting the emotional turmoil surrounding their situation.

In response to the swirling rumors, J.R. took to social media to clarify that he and Shirley had been “separated for months,” emphasizing that Instagram isn’t the place for relationship discussions. “But God told me to tell y’all I’ve been separated for months,” he stated, adding the hashtag #THATSALL.

J.R. and Shirley were married in August 2016 and share two children together. Throughout his impressive 16-season career in the NBA, J.R. played for five teams and celebrated two championship wins—one with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016 and another with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020.

As they embark on this new journey of parenthood, it’s clear that the love between J.R. and Candice is blossoming, despite the challenges of the past. We wish the new family all the best as they navigate this exciting chapter together!
