Big Sean and Jhené Aiko’s relationship has been a topic of fascination for fans and the media alike. Despite being together for over a decade and sharing the joy of parenting their one-year-old son, Noah, the couple has yet to walk down the aisle. In a recent interview, Big Sean candidly discussed his thoughts on marriage and revealed why he feels that he and Jhené still have some work to do before considering tying the knot.

In an enlightening conversation on the “Out of Context” podcast hosted by Charlamagne Tha God, which premiered on Friday, August 2, Big Sean addressed rumors and speculation about his relationship with Jhené Aiko. During the interview, Charlamagne asked Sean directly whether the couple had secretly married in a clandestine industry ceremony. With a smile, Sean firmly dismissed the idea, saying, “No, no, there has not been a secret industry marriage.”

Sean elaborated on his perspective, explaining that while marriage is a significant milestone, it is not something he and Jhené are rushing into. “It’s a little personal, you know what I mean? But just like to be real with you, just like any people who have dealt with love, we’ve had our ups and downs,” he said. “I think it’s still finding the right navigation through it all.”

The 36-year-old rapper shared that he believes in focusing on the strength and health of their relationship before considering marriage. “I feel like a lot of people get the idea of like, ‘Oh, you have to get married,’” Sean continued. “But then it’s like, to me, that’s almost a fear-based way of thinking, too. Because then people end up getting divorced. The divorce rate’s so high.” This insight reflects Sean’s thoughtful approach to relationships, emphasizing the importance of building a solid foundation before making a lifelong commitment.

Although Sean is clear that marriage remains a possibility for the future, he acknowledges that there is significant work to be done. “There’s a lot of work that needs to be done,” he admitted. He pointed out that their focus has often been split between their careers and family life, which sometimes means that their relationship takes a back seat. “I can only speak for myself that there needs to be like more work done so we could keep going,” he said. “Because there’s a lot of focus on our family, there’s a lot of focus on careers and everything, and that is something that I feel like has not been the main focus.”

Big Sean and Jhené Aiko’s relationship began in 2016, and they have weathered many ups and downs together. They welcomed their son Noah in November 2022, and Jhené is also a mother to 15-year-old Namiko from her previous relationship with singer O’Ryan. Despite the pressures of public life and the challenges of managing careers and family, Sean’s thoughtful approach to marriage highlights his commitment to ensuring that their relationship is strong and healthy before taking such a significant step.
